"We live in a wonderful spot in the Italian countryside, and love the green hills and vineyards that surround us. I work from home and the freedom this gives me is terrific, but our phone line had no ADSL or even ISDN service, and after every rain or windstorm the line would go dead for days at a time. After one particularly bad storm where I was without internet for 10 days (and this with a company that is 90% internet based!), I went to an internet café and researched other solutions. The only one that worked with my location, the presence of 3 computers in the house, and the lack of UMTS coverage in the main office was the Dovado UMR. I ordered it right away and within 2 days I was live at UMTS and HSDPA speeds, with much faster upload speeds than a satellite ADSL system that we had tried before. The best features for me are the ability to place the box where I have the strongest signal, and pick it up via WiFi from my desktop and laptops. And I love that I'm not dependent at all on my land line, which stays free for phone calls and faxes! Recently the phone company has talked about bringing ADSL to our area, but based on experience with their repair times for the land line, I think I'll stick with my UMR! The few times I've needed help with my Dovado box I've been able to talk to or get email replies quickly, so much better than the kind of "service" I'd get with an ADSL line."

"I am using a UMR with a 3G connection as primary and a HughesNet satellite connection as backup.
We are located in the western caribbean in the island of Roatan (30 miles off the coast of Honduras). Traditional ADSL service is not available. Cable internet is not available in our area. The only option is a wireless (DSL style) connection with a local provider, which is quite expensive and very limited in bandwidth; or a satellite connection, which is what we've been using for the past 5 years. Finally a 3G connection is now available through a national cell carrier (TIGO Honduras). The 3G connection solves a lot of our problems/needs that a satellite can't. More upload bandwidth (300kbps up compared to the 100kbps of satellite); less latency (150ms, compared to 1,000ms of satellite). The only problem was to find a reliable 3G router in order to network the 3G connection.
I've been searching over the internet and was about to buy a Billion BiPAC 7402GX, but I have not been able to get answers to my questions, from Billion or their resellers.
Another option was the D-Link DIR-450, but my main concern was that the modem I am using (Huawei E226) was not supported yet by the above mentioned routers. I eventually found your company over the internet and it seemed like the way to go. By the time I bought the router it was my understanding that the WAN port was only for future reference. I was gladly surprised to know that the new firmware was implemented with a automatic fail-over option. Thus I decided to hook up the SAT connection to the WAN port and use it as a backup. I updated the firmware and 10 minutes later, I was up and running."

"We are a Belgian based company active in providing free internet access to our customers using public transportation nationwide. The scope of these services is to give our customers the liberty of accessing the internet while being in transit at no additional cost.
We were looking to offer this service to our customers for quite some time now and only recently, when the local 3G providers started offering nationwide coverage at fair pricing, we started a pilot project to evaluate the feasibility of this idea. We tested several other brands, like LINKSYS - ERICSSON - DLINK - OPTION just to name a few, but none satisfied our needs for 100%. Main problems we experienced were firmware and modem related and from a price perspective were simply too expensive, which resulted in major headaches in management and TCO. After struggling to find the right device for a while, we came across the UMR and just by reading the specifications we were sold on trying one of these devices in our test lab.
Once we received the UMR, we immediately tested it and it passed with flying colors! The shipped firmware supported all major 3G modems and the available features were just right for the scope of our project. The UMR supports remote management via HTTP as well as SMS and even event-based reporting is possible, which renders this platform in a thru autonomous "install-and-forget" environment. To our surprise the UMR also supports the remote control of external devices through the "TellStick" module, which enabled us to trigger additional features in the customer environment at no extra effort since the UMR had support built into it right out of the box!
To conclude, we at CHICANE.BE are very satisfied with the UMR device and look forward to upcoming features on the UMR. We truly believe that this device offers great value for price and are sure that currently no other brand on the marker offers similar features at the cost of the UMR, let alone the flexibility that DOVADO is currently showing by releasing regular firmware updates and bug fixes!"
