DOVADO initiates Global Voice-over-TDD Trial

As part of a proof-of-concept in demonstrating the technology brought by DOVADO, the company has launched the first of its models of the DOVADO Residential Gateway. Operators that are commercially running 3G/UMTS-TDD networks as well as those trialing them are a part of a global exercise that enable them to experience in first hand the quality of voice over a wireless broadband access network.

The agenda of this trial is to verify the quality between two end-points, in addition the ability to communicate between all the operators over a worldwide means using the open Internet. The test environments vary from urban to rural, as well as across three major available UMTS-TDD air frequencies.

With a simple Plug-and-Play approach to the subscriber, the DOVADO Residential Gateway offers Ethernet and Analog Telephony interfaces, now a globally-deployed standard; to connect their devices and be part of a Wireless Broadband and Telephony network in mere seconds.

Operators willing to enable an alternative revenue-stream are able to do so by applying voice as either a primary or secondary service in conjunction with 3G/UMTS-TDD. The business case for voice is greater today than simply wireless broadband access, at a global extent. By combining the two, an operator is able to spread its service offering across a wider audience, at a lower cost and uplift its profits.

The DOVADO Solution further offers operators to deploy voice in a more managed and cost-efficient manner in order to maintain a large network without complications in commissioning, provisioning and supporting the deployed lines.
