Press ReleaseDOVADO announces iBurst PC card support for the Wireless Residential Gateway (WRG)Dubai Internet City, Monday December 11th 2006 - DOVADO has extended support for additional PCMCIA modems for a mobile broadband technology called HC-SDMA (High Capacity Spatial Division Multiple Access), or better known to the public as iBurst. The DOVADO Wireless Residential Gateway (WRG) can be firmware-upgraded over-the-air in order to capacitate newer modems as operators evolve their networks from one technology to the next, thus not requiring subscribers to acquire a newer gateway for each newer generation of introduced technology. The WRG can be used as an all-in-one access device within a home, office or onboard a vessel/vehicle. Wireless operators would be able to bundle competitive voice and data packages as part of their service plan.
The WRG connects to the mobile network via a slot-in PCMCIA modem, and can share the internet access to many users simultaneously as a WiFi/LAN router. Additional features such as telephony allow subscribers to use their existing regular analog telephone sets and fax machines to get the best out of next generation SIP telephony inherent in the mobile soft-switching infrastructures better known as IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). The WRG connects to the mobile network via the iBurstTM PCMCIA modem, and can share the internet access to many users simultaneously as a WiFi/LAN router. WRG has been tested and certified by Personal Broadband Australia for iBurst Australia (1905Mhz). The WRG has also been qualified in South Africa and Norway. “The iBurstTMSystem technology is picking up significant momentum in certain markets and is paving its way into new ones. The technology is very friendly to VoIP traffic and capable of delivering the necessary bandwidth to be a healthy primary alternative for both residential and mobile broadband, which is why we have inserted support for iBurstTMSystem into our general firmware track in the Wireless Residential Gateway.” says Erik Arthur, CEO of DOVADO. With the assistance of the DOVADO Gateway Manager (DGM), all of the DOVADO gateways are operator-managed from a central location in order to simplify and shorten the installation process by operator subscribers. To complement GPRS/EDGE/3G/HSDPA, UMTS-TDD and FLASH-OFDM®; iBurstTM is the fourth separate family of technologies supported by the DOVADO Wireless Residential Gateway (WRG).
