DOVADO gives UMR owners more value for money

Dubai Internet City, UAE / Kista, Sweden; Monday, October 27th, 2008

With the release of a new firmware update, version 2.0, the DOVADO USB Mobile Broadband Router (UMR) has now been strengthened with further features and resilience.

The DOVADO USB Mobile Broadband Router (UMR) allows users to insert their 3G/HSPA, CDMA or iBurstTM mobile broadband USB modem and share out their internet connection with ease via Ethernet or Wireless LAN, providing access to all their computers and wireless-enabled devices throughout the home or office. Not only is the UMR a price-competitive product that fulfills the gap between a USB modem and a local area network, but is simple to configure and reliable in performance. Offering a residential or SOHO broadband connection without wires, the UMR provides a round-the-clock connection, as one would experience with fixed broadband.

The following new features have been added in the 2.0 firmware release:

SMS mailbox:
A world first by DOVADO. Routers compliant with 3rd party 3G modems lack an SMS mailbox. Using the inserted USB modem into the UMR, users can send/receive SMS via the UMR user interface. DOVADO aims to release even more exciting SMS-related features in the future.

Connection TrackerTM:
Assures round-the-clock uptime of the Internet connection by checking the availability of several Internet destinations. In case these destinations are unreachable during operation, the UMR will reconnect the link automatically or take further action to establish the connection.

Ethernet WAN port:
The Ethernet WAN port is enabled, supporting DHCP (Dynamic) or Static IP addressing. This means users can connect the router to existing wired broadband infrastructures.

Backup connection:
The possibility to appoint a primary and secondary Internet connection, be it the Ethernet WAN port or the mobile USB modem. In case the primary link fails to reach the Internet, the Connection TrackerTM will toggle the connection to the secondary line. Once the primary connection is working again, it’ll automatically toggle back to the primary, thus utilizing less resources of the secondary connection. In overall, this solution will provide users with minimal Internet downtime.

More modems (and technologies!):
In addition to adding support for many new 3G/HSPA modems, DOVADO has also added support for CDMA2000xEV-DO modems and iBurstTM. See full list here:  www.dovado.com/modems

WPA2 Enterprise: End-user authentication on the WLAN, allowing each user to access the network with unique credentials, authenticated against a RADIUS server.
